Treatment for multi-directional instability of the shoulder

Multi-directional instability (MDI) is the symptomatic glenohumeral joint subluxation or dislocation occurring in more than one direction. To date there have been no randomised controlled trials on the efficacy of physical therapy for people with MDI. Using the rigorous research methodology developed in the STOPS trials our research team is investigating the effectiveness of a clearly defined clinical protocol for MDI. It is exciting to be involved in this project for a patient group so difficult to treat with traditional conservative or surgical treatments.
